Bloomsburg University Strategic Plan 2005

Introduction

Bloomsburg University is a comprehensive masters institution with a broad selection of liberal arts, professional, and pre-professional undergraduate degrees and graduate programs in areas of regional need and academic strength. The University strives to create a culture of teaching and learning that focuses on the entire student experience. The University subscribes to the following core values.

By 2010 Bloomsburg University will be recognized for the following:

In fall 2005, President Jessica S. Kozloff and senior level university administrators began the process of updating the Bloomsburg University Strategic Plan. Seven critical areas were identified to be included in the strategic plan: 1) academic program directions; 2) teaching and learning (including technology); 3) student growth and development; 4) enrollment planning; 5) civil and inclusive community; 6) the university as a state and regional resource; and 7) optimization of fiscal resources, including fundraising.

A small committee, for each of the seven critical areas, was formed to identify specific goals, objectives, strategies, results and expected outcomes. The committees solicited input and suggestions from members of the Bloomsburg University community.

These committees created a plan that clearly focuses on a micro-level for University issues, but also reaches a macro-level of support for System-wide plans.

The final 2005 Strategic Plan was presented to the Council of Trustees in November of 2005 for their approval and acceptance.

*** Please note: New strategies for the 2005 Strategic Plan are identified with the color red.
