Campus dining services

Bloomsburg University contracts with Aramark Corporation for student and faculty food service and campus catering needs.

All students who live in the residence halls are required to take their meals in the campus dining hall under one of four food service plans during the academic year.

Students who live off-campus or in upper campus apartments have the option of purchasing a 5-meal per week or 75 block plan at the Business Office in Waller Administration Building.

One cash equivalency meal equals one board meal. Meal plans also come with "flex dollars" -- that is, an additional amount of money on their card -- that can be used anytime for snacks or extra meals. The "flex dollars" come in $150 and $200 quantities, and can be added to in any amount at any time by students or parents.

Flex dollars are transferable from fall to spring semesters only; balances at the end of the spring semester cannot be returned. However, BU students have collectively arranged to volunteer any remaining flex dollars to be donated to local charity.

At BU: no shortage of places to eat

Scranton Commons, the primary, serves thousands of meals a day and, is set up scatter-court style for speedy service and variety. Meals are all-you-can-eat.

Husky Lounge, a busy cafeteria in Scranton Commons, offers a large array of different kinds of meals and snacks. Prices are ala carte and meal-plan holders get the value of the meal (cash equivalency) charged against their meal plan and pay for anything beyond that.

Monty's, on upper campus, offers basic meals, deli items and snacks.

Italian Kitchen in Kehr Union offers pizza and similar items.

Roongo's, in the Student Services Center, is popular for snacks and light lunches.

Second Street Cafe, in Kehr Union, specializes in coffees.

Starbuck's, in Andruss Library, specializes in coffees and snacks.

Off-campus food

No college town is complete without favorite hangouts and pizza delivery services, and Bloomsburg is no exception. A number of establishments are fierce competition with each other and you'll find a stack of flyers, menus and phone numbers waiting for you the day you move in. If you don't want it sent to your room, you can walk the short distance into town - about five minutes - and find everything imaginable. And BU offers free late-night shuttle bus service to and from campus to help make sure you get home safely.
