Plan a visit to BU

Bloomsburg University encourages prospective students to visit all their top college choices before deciding where to apply.

Visit the campus

The 14 universities in Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education, for example, all offer quality and affordability. But you're about to spend $50,000 or more on a college education -- it's critical that you have a sense of "fit" and comfort with the campus of your choice.

BU welcomes you at any time - including some Saturdays - but with a bit of scheduling, you can optimize your visit by getting a campus tour, meeting with admissions staff in a group setting, and really get a close look and compare.

Visit tips, suggestions

Contact Admissions to schedule a visit (see below). We will send you information and a one-day parking permit by regular mail. Contact us between 8 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you don't call ahead, you will need to obtain a parking permit from the Buckingham Maintenance Center or the Admissions office as soon as you arrive.

To Schedule a Visit - Just call (570) 389-4316 or drop us an email. If emailing, provide us with the student name, address, telephone number and preferred date for visit. Someone will contact you to complete the registration process.

Wear comfortable shoes. The campus walking tour is about 45 minutes and loops around most of lower campus. You'll be in and out of buildings. The campus is handicapped accessible for those who use wheelchairs, but it's hilly.

Change of plans?

Rescheduling your visit is easy. Just drop us an email or give us a call at (570) 389-4316

Smoke-free campus - As with all of the Pennsylvania State System universities, smoking is prohibited throughout the Bloomsburg University campus (indoors and outdoors).

When you arrive: place your parking permit on the dashboard and park in the several spaces allotted for admissions at the west end of the Waller Lot (facing student services). You'll find restrooms just inside Student Services, across the hall from Admissions.

Places to eat - in addition to the usual campus fare at several venues, including a snack bar in the Student Services Center, there are many independent and chain restaurants in downtown Bloomsburg and along Route 11, just south of campus.

Academic departments welcome prospective students, but call in advance to schedule an appointment. During days when the university is in session, faculty have scheduled office hours to meet with students and visitors.

Special requests: If you have special interest in a service or program of the university or facilities not on the tour that you'd especially like to see, mention it to the admissions officer when you call. We'll try to assist with a connection.

Get a map. Campus maps ( 179k, pdf) are handy to have when you arrive. This visitor's map is especially for prospective students and their families. You can also download driving directions to campus.

Open House programs

Bloomsburg hosts a total of four open house programs annually: two in the fall and two in the spring (one of which is for high school juniors only), all on Saturdays. Included are:

Individual visit
