2016 Feed a Friend of Montour County

Beta Gamma Sigma Bloomsburg University Chapter (BGS-BU) continued its annual tradition of serving the local community for the holiday season through its third participation in the Feed-A-Friend of Montour County event by assisting the Shiloh UCC Church Food Bank. Faculty and student volunteers from BGS-BU along with other members of the Zeigler College of Business worked at the distribution center on the Saturday (Nov. 19) sorting and packaging day while others worked on the Tuesday (Nov. 22) distribution day. Some volunteers worked tirelessly by helping on both days!

Zeigler College of Business Mariam Sarkessian attended the 2016 Beta Gamma Sigma Global Leadership Summit

From November 3-6, Business Management major Mariam Sarkessian represented the Bloomsburg University chapter of the business honor society Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) at its 2016 BGS Global Leadership Summit. Held in Dallas, Texas, the Summit is a leadership conference focused on students discovering, refining, and using their strengths. Students at the conference became more certain and confident in their strengths and in turn became stronger leaders.

The Summit focused on the students as individuals and the participants were driven, high-achieving business students who came from all over the world such as Canada, China, and South Korea. In addition to learning more about their own leadership style, the Summit gave participants the invaluable opportunity to network with each other.

Mariam Sarkessian was selected as the recipient of the 2016 BGS Leadership Scholarship Award for her outstanding contribution to BGS-BU Chapter, which recognizes academic excellence on campus. BGS-BU Chapter earned this scholarship for being recognized as the Highest Honors Chapter in 2015-2016 under the leadership of Dean Jeffrey Krug and Dr. Lam Nguyen, the faculty advisor.
