2013-2014 BU Players Officers
Sydney Hare (President) is a Senior Integrated Theatre Major. Last year, Sydney designed costumes for the Spring production The Underpants, the dance concert, and Co-Costume Designed Jack and Jill with Emily Miller. She also was the Assistant Stage Manager for Jack and Jill and was the Assistant Costume Designer for 12 Angry Jurors. In the 2011-2012 school year, Sydney was a part of the Chorus of the play The Burial at Thebes, and was also seen as an Ensemble Member in Dead Man’s Cell Phone. Sydney was also Assistant Stage Manager for the Independent Project, Hotline, and was on the Wardrobe Crew for The Shape of Things. She wrapped up her sophomore year by Costume Designing the dance The Need, in the 2nd Annual Dance Concert. This is Sydney’s first time being President for the Bloomsburg University Players, and she is honored and thrilled to be an Officer for the Theatre group.
Casey Gerhart (Vice President) is a Senior Theatre Arts Major, Performance Emphasis. She graduated from Montgomery County Community College with an A.A. Degree in Theatre Arts before transferring to Bloomsburg in the fall of 2012. Casey’s first role with BU Players was Juror No. 8 in Twelve Angry Jurors, which she received an Irene Ryan Acting Nomination for. In the spring of 2013 Casey played the role of Klinglehoff in The Underpants. She also had the honor of remounting a 10 min. play she directed for the fall 2012 directing class (Feeding Time at the Human House) at “Taste of the Arts” at the Moose Exchange in February of 2013. Casey is thrilled to be serving as the Vice President for BU Players this year as well as working as a Teacher’s Assistant for the Theatre Appreciation course. Her first love is acting, but she also enjoys singing, directing, and playing the piano. Some of Casey’s favorite past roles include Nora Helmer in A Doll’s House, Shelly in Buried Child and Kim MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie. Casey has worked behind the scenes in a variety of areas including: Props Master (Buried Child), Costume Designer (The Bald Soprano and The American Dream), Lighting Designer (A Doll’s House) and Stage Manager for The Day They Shot John Lennon.
Kellyanne Klause (Historian) is a junior duel majoring in Theatre Arts, with an Emphasis in Performance, and Communications Studies, as a part of the Organizational tract. Kellyanne made her college debut as Grandma Annie in Bloomsburg University’s B.U.S.T.E.D. Her first main stage role was as Juror 12 in November 2012's performance of Reginald Rose's 12 Angry Jurors. Her most recent role was as Franklin Versati in last spring's production of Steve Martin's The Underpants, a role in which Kellyanne was nominated for an Irene Ryan at the KCACTF Region II. Kellyanne can also be spotted in a Late Night with Jimmy Fallon promo, where Kelly and Jimmy shared a high five. Kellyanne also works as a freshman mentor for the Center for Visual and Performing Arts Living and Learning Community on campus. She is very excited for the upcoming year; please don’t be frightened if she asks to take a picture!
Elizabeth Potter (Secretary) is a senior Theatre Performance and Dance student at Bloomsburg University. Play credits include: Louise Maske (The Underpants), Juror 11 (Twelve Angry Jurors), Sampson (Romeo and Juliet), and the Spanish Dancer (Spellbound). Musical theatre credits include: Jo March (Little Women—the musical), Sgt. Sarah Brown (Guys and Dolls), Factory Worker/Lovely Lady (Les Miserables), and Chorus (The Mikado). Alongside semester performances, Elizabeth is a voiceover actor and collaborates with fellow musicians and artists on independent projects and events. Recent highlights of Elizabeth’s theatre career have been selection to study musical theatre at the Open Jar Institute in New York City and interning with the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Company Management.
Chanel Kantz (Treasurer) is a senior Integrated Theatre Major at Bloomsburg University. She is currently the treasurer of Bloomsburg University Players, production manager of Bloomsburg University’s Theatre & Dance Division, and holds dual positions as treasurer and secretary of Alpha Psi Omega (Alpha Omicron chapter), the National Honors Fraternity for the Dramatics. Last year Chanel was nominated as student employee of the year for her work-study achievements as production manager. She was also a recipient of the Michael Collins Theatre Scholarship for two consecutive years. Most recently, Chanel stage managed BUP’s production of The Underpants. Her past work with BU Players includes assistant stage manager of Twelve Angry Jurors, Phillip Czekner’s devised theatre piece Wonderment (Ensemble), assistant stage manager of Dead Man’s Cell Phone, The Burial at Thebes (Chorus), assistant stage manager of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, stage manager of Richard Nazzaro’s production of The Zoo Story, and stage manager of a portion of Almost Maine (Her Heart, Sad and Glad, and This Hurts). She was also seen in BTE/BUP’s co-production of Lil’ Red’s Extreme Freestylin’ Fairytales (Princess), BTE/BUP’s co-production of Hamlet (Ophelia’s Lady), and BTE’s production of Playboy of the Western World (Susan Brady). She also participates every year in Bloomsburg’s college campaign of The Vagina Monologues; a nationwide campaign to stop violence against women and girls. Chanel continues to expand her horizons and began working on a Business Management minor this past fall. She hopes to continue a strong involvement in the theatre and dance division and leadership in Bloomsburg University Players.
