Hi, my name is Cerick Austin and I am one of the Assistant Directors of Admissions. I graduated from Bloomsburg University’s School Counseling and Student Affair’s Master’s program in 2010.
As a graduate and employee of BU, I feel a deep connection to the University. I am passionate about helping prospective students navigate the college search process. Should you decide to attend Bloomsburg University, I am confident you will see all of the things that make BU an amazing school.
I travel to high schools I travel to high schools and college fairs in the Philadelphia area. Be sure to check with your guidance counselor or career/college advisor to find out when I will be visiting your school. You can also see a list of the college fairs in your area that I will be attending in the fall of 2015! If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email me!
Best Advice: Take advantage of all networking opportunities; you never know who may be able to help you reach the next level.
Favorite BU Activity: Attending home games of the men’s and women’s basketball teams. I also enjoy going to the football games at Redman Stadium in the early fall months.
Hobbies and Interests: Playing and watching basketball, traveling, visiting family, bike riding, video games (NBA 2K), and spending time with my wife and three children.
Hometown: Cleveland, OH
Why I came to Bloomsburg: In 2009, my wife was offered a position at BU. When she accepted the position, I decided I would focus on completing my graduate degree. My first day on campus, I fell in love with the university.
As I neared the completion of my Master’s degree, I applied for an opening in the Admissions Office. At the time, I had five years of experience working in college admissions and I was excited to build on that background at a school as excellent as BU. Although this is the third school I have worked in the Admissions department for, I can truly say BU is my favorite!
Educational Background: BA in Management, Northwood University, 2002; M.Ed., Bloomsburg University, 2010
