The Big Event
The Big Event, a single-day community service project sponsored by the Community Government Association (CGA), will be held on Thursday, March 31, throughout Bloomsburg and neighboring communities.
The Big Event gives BU students the opportunity to say, “Thank you" to Bloomsburg area residents by going out and completing various tasks, such as raking leaves, weeding, painting, etc. at the homes of the townspeople who chose to participate.
As students, we must remember we are temporary visitors in a community of permanent residents. The Big Event needs individuals, groups, clubs, organizations, etc., willing to give one day to help give back to our local community. Interested students and groups can pick up registration forms at various campus locations, specifically the CGA office, KUB 421. Contact (570) 389-4462 | cga@bloomu.edu for details.
A big success for 2012 Big Event

A misty rain and chilly temperatures didn’t dampen the #HuskySpirit of more than 700 students who volunteered Saturday, March 31, for the third annual Big Event, coordinated by the Community Government Association (CGA).
Students broke into several groups spread across Bloomsburg, including large pockets along West 3rd Street, Main Street and Town Park.
Among the community projects included painting, raking leaves, cleaning porches, pulling shrubs, planting flowers, washing windows, moving flood-related debris and trimming bushes. #CGABigEvent
