Colleges Against Cancer

Colleges Against Cancer Colleges Against Cancer works closely with the local American Cancer Society chapter to raise cancer awareness on campus. We participate in the Great American Smokeout and hold events for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as well as an annual Protect Your Balls dodgeball tournament to raise awareness for testicular cancer.

Relay for Life

Our biggest event is Relay for Life, which is held near the end of every spring semester. Relay is a huge overnight 12 hour event from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Cancer doesn’t sleep, so neither do we.

Participants do laps around a track while Celebrating cancer survivors, Remembering those we have lost, and Fighting Back by raising money for cancer research.

There are themed laps, many activities, and entertainment all night long. Many campus teams participate, teams of fraternities and sororities, clubs, sports teams, or friends.

We have many Relay committees our members are involved in. Different responsibilities include recruiting sponsors, contacting survivors, planning activities for Relay, etc.

We have all been affected in some by this terrible disease, and CAC is a great way to fight back! We can always use new members to help us make sure these events run smoothly. Contact Carly Hustedt, president, or our advisor Jean Downing, for more information.
