Marketing and Communications
BU's marketing and communications office is the university's representative to local, regional and national media organizations. It's responsible for maintaining a consistent editorial and graphic identity in all official university publications and communications. The office promotes public awareness and support for BU and its mission through internal and external advancement and media relations efforts by:

  • issuing press releases
  • preparing publications – including Bloomsburg University Magazine
  • preparing advertising and marketing collateral, online communications and sports information
  • arranging and facilitating media coverage of BU
  • promoting BU experts to the media
  • assisting members of the BU community in their interactions with the media

Quick Fact

BU was authorized to institute a graduate program in 1960 when the state teachers college became a state college. Courses were first offered in 1961 and first graduate degree was granted on May 26, 1963 to Arthur Hontz, who earned a M.Ed.
