Apply for a Federal Graduate PLUS Loan Online

Dear Student:

A college education is one of the most important investments you can make.  If you need assistance to finance your education at Bloomsburg University, you may apply for a Federal Graduate PLUS Loan.  Remember, the PLUS MPN is a legal document that holds you responsible for repayment of current and future loans.  The PLUS MPN is valid for 10 years and does not require you to complete another Note for subsequent borrowing, unless you elect to use a different lender than what was submitted on the original PLUS MPN, or due to a request made by the lender or school.  Prior to applying for this loan, you must first have exhausted your Federal Stafford Loan eligibility.  Please contact the Office of Financial Aid if you have questions about your eligibility.

STEP 1 - Select a Lender From the Lists Below
You will need the lender name for Step 2.  REMEMBER credit unions require that the student borrower be a member.  If you prefer to use a lender that is not listed, contact AES Loan Guaranty Services at 1-800-692-7392 for more information.

  • 2008-2009 KeystonePLUS Participating Lenders for Graduates
    The KeystonePLUS loan program offers a zero Default Fee to all PLUS borrowers.  The 1% normally charged will be underwritten by AES/PHEAA (See Note Below).  Each KeystonePLUS participating lender may offer additional up-front and repayment benefits such as reduced Origination Fees.  To determine possible benefits you need to contact the lender directly.
    NOTE:  Effective for loans guaranteed on or after January 1, 2009, the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will suspend paying the Federal Default Fee on behalf of all borrowers.  The Federal Default Fee is the one-percent fee required under federal guidelines as a reserve against potential loan defaults and is normally deducted from the proceeds of a Federal Stafford or PLUS loan disbursement made to student and parent borrowers.
  • Gradudate PLUS Lenders who use AES/PHEAA as Guarantor
    This list contains all lenders (both KeystonePLUS and other lenders) who currently are participating in the Graduate PLUS Loan program and use AES/PHEAA as a guarantor.

STEP 2 - Click Here to Apply for the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan  
This application must be completed by the Student Borrower, not the parent.   You will redirected to AES/PHEAA's website.  The student borrower will be directed to logon or to create an account with American Education Services' Account Access.

  • Select a lender (as determined in Step 1) from the drop down menu.
  • Verify that all information pre-printed in the borrower's section is correct.  This information was provided when you logged into American Education Services' Account Access and created your own User ID and password.  Please note the address provided should be your permanent home address.  A temporary school address is not acceptable.
  • Provide two separate references, living at different U.S. addresses, and indicate their relationship to you.
  • Select one of the following options to sign the Graduate PLUS MPN:
  1. Sign the completed Graduate PLUS electronically with your U.S. Department of Education PIN.  This is the same PIN that can be used to electronically sign your FAFSA.  If you completed a paper FAFSA the pin would have been mailed to you afterwards.  (If you do not have a PIN, go to www.pin.ed.gov, or contact customer service at 1-800-801-0576.)  Electronically signing the Graduate PLUS MPN is the fastest and most efficient way to apply for a Graduate PLUS Loan.
  2. Print the Graduate PLUS MPN form at your printer and mail it to AES at:  P.O. Box 8177 Harrisburg, PA 17105
  3. Request AES print the Graduate PLUS MPN form, send it to you to complete, and then you return it to AES.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT - Certification, Disbursement, & Reduction/Cancellation of Loan

  • Bloomsburg University's Office of Financial Aid will certify your Graduate PLUS Loan once all required information has been received (i.e. completed FAFSA, completed Graduate PLUS MPN, verification of at least half-time enrollment in an eligible program, and satisfactory progress earned).  The amount approved may be reduced based upon eligibility.  For more information, please go to www.bloomu.edu/aid.
  • This  Graduate PLUS Loan will be guaranteed by American Education Services (AES).  The funds may be delivered through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) directly to your school account. Get more information on tentative disbursement dates.
  • You may request this Graduate PLUS Loan be reduced or canceled.  The request must be in writing from you the student borrower, not your parent.  Please include your name, your Bloomsburg University ID Number, and the amount you want the loan reduced to.  If the request is made prior to disbursement of funds, please send the request to the Office of Financial Aid.  Once disbursement of funds has been made, you have 30 days to request the Business Office to return funds.
