Benefits for the 2008-2009 KeystoneBEST & KeystonePLUS Loan Program
- The KeystoneBEST/PLUS loan program offers a zero Default Fee to all
Stafford and PLUS borrowers and the 1% normally charged will be
underwritten by AES/PHEAA.
NOTE: Effective for loans guaranteed
on or after January 1, 2009, the Pennsylvania Higher Education
Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will suspend paying the Federal Default Fee on
behalf of all borrowers. The Federal Default Fee is the one-percent fee
required under federal guidelines as a reserve against potential loan
defaults and is normally deducted from the proceeds of a Federal
Stafford or PLUS loan disbursement made to student and parent borrowers.
- Each KeystoneBEST/PLUS participating lender may offer additional
up-front and repayment benefits such as reduced Origination Fees.
