The devastation of the Flood of 2006 will take years to overcome. The American Red Cross provided shelter during the first few days of the Flood of 2006 and provided 3 meals a day at the Espy Fire Hall and from 13 mobile emergency response vehicles, which covered Bloomsburg and surrounding areas in Columbia County. The meals continued for weeks, while the clean-up continued. We provided first month's rent to some clients who needed to permanently relocate and clothing, shoes, groceries, storage containers and medications to 300 families. Any BU employee who wishes to donate to the American Red Cross, Bloomsburg Chapter, should designate their pledge monies to:
code # 4303-0013.
SECA was established in 1977 as the only charitable campaign allowed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in its offices statewide. This yearly drive in the fall means minimal workplace disruption and administrative costs. When state employees give through SECA they are helping to improve the quality of life for ALL people.
The Bloomsburg University SECA campaign, together with the United Way of Columbia County, supports many agencies, which include the work of eight participating organizations and their member agencies.
Over 1,400 international, national, regional and local agencies are participating in the 2007 campaign. In the Bloomsburg area, these include, the following agencies (SECA designation code):
Please refer to the SECA Resource Guidebook for a comprehensive listing of all agencies and their coding information.
Weekly winners are drawn from all donors' completed pledge forms received by the end of the previous week. Once you submit your pledge, you are eligible to win every week. That means you are eligible to win more than once, so be sure to send your pledge in early!
To calculate:
Multiply your annual salary by .006
then
divide by the number of pay dates per year.
Example:
$25,000 x .006 = $150
$150/26 pay dates = $5.77 per pay
Think about becoming a Guideline Giver! Donate 6/10 of 1% of your annual salary.
