Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, commonly referred to as Bloomsburg, BU or Bloom, is a public university in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, United States. It is one of the 14 state universities of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE).

Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is a public institution that was founded in 1839. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 9,200, its setting is rural, and the campus size is 282 acres.

The campus of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is located along the Susquehanna River, about 150 miles from both Philadelphia and New York. Undergraduates at Bloomsburg University can choose from more than 85 bachelor’s degree programs, and graduate students can pursue nearly 20 programs.

Popular undergraduate majors are accounting, biology and allied health sciences, communication studies, criminal justice, early childhood and adolescent education, management, marketing, nursing, psychology, special education.

Bloomsburg University offers a wide array of student activities and programs, modern residence halls, a well-equipped Student Recreation Center and restaurant-quality dining, including a Subway and two Starbucks locations. The university has 18 intercollegiate athletic programs, more than 200 organizations to provide opportunities for leadership and growth and 12 Living Learning Communities that bring together students with common academic interests who live in the same residence hall, participate in activities and enroll in a cluster of related courses. The university actively supports an atmosphere of civic engagement, encouraging students to get involved through political and volunteer activities. More than 750 companies, organizations and agencies provide academic internships to Bloomsburg students. Students also may take advantage of support offerings provided through Academic Advisement, Accommodative Services, Act 101/Educational Opportunity Program, Academic Enrichment, Student Support Services, University Tutorial Services and, of course, Global Education. The Town of Bloomsburg in the state of Pennsylvania has a population of approximately 15,000 and is located on the Susquehanna River 150 miles west of New York City. Website: http://bloomsburgpa.org/

Bloomsburg is home to the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble, founded in 1978 to establish a resident professional ensemble for the production of quality entertainment and educational programs for the region, and to promote the arts.
The town also has a public library, Bloomsburg Public Library, founded in 1899 and funded jointly by the taxpayers of Bloomsburg, Scott Township, and Hemlock Township. Bloomsburg is also home to the Bloomsburg Fair (the largest fair in the state of Pennsylvania) which, since 1855, is a traditional farm fair. The town’s Main Street is home to a number of fine shops and restaurants; areas off of Main Street and in the surrounding locations offer just about any shopping and dining opportunity one could want.
