Student Health Center Information

Student Health Center The Student Health Center is dedicated to serving students by offering accessible care designed to meet the needs of the majority of students. The health center is an auxiliary service and does not receive state funding for its operation. Funds are derived from revenues generated by the health center fee paid by students. The goal of the health center is to provide basic high quality outpatient health care with a strong emphasis on preventative health education, on an individual basis, to BU students.

In addition to offering clinical services, the health center works closely with the other student life departments, as well as local health agencies and providers, which are heavily utilized by the health center. The health center coordinates public health activities for BU students, administers immunizations as needed and supports BU's academic mission.

The health center is not designed to serve students with needs requiring specialty clinical services but will assist students in establishing specialty services in the community to attend to their medical needs. Also, students presenting at the health center with symptoms indicating possible extensive medical work ups will be directed to their primary care physician or to the local hospital emergency room, whichever the situation dictates.
