For Medical Emergencies, dial 911

The University Police are the First Responders to all campus emergencies. Do not call the Student Health Center.

When you dial 911, you will contact a county dispatcher who will ask you the "who, what, when, where, why and how" questions concerning the emergency. Do not hang up until the dispatcher instructs you to do so.

If you dial 911 on a campus phone, your call will also notify the University Police Department, who will respond to the location of the campus phone used to call 911.

The Student Health Center fee does not pay for medical care received at other health care facilities nor does it pay for any costs accrued by activating the Emergency Response Medical System (EMS).

Is it really an emergency?

Money should not be a factor when faced with a medical emergency. However, please be sure to use the Emergency Medical System (EMS) appropriately and responsibly.

All costs of activating the Emergency Medical System will be billed to the victim's insurance OR will be the personal responsibility of the victim to pay ( in the event that the victim does not have health insurance).

Keep the following facts in mind:

Sexual Assault

If you have been sexually assaulted, seek emergency medical care as soon as possible.

Do not change clothing, wash or shower: This is extremely important so that forensic evidence can be collected if you choose to press charges either now or later.

Your options of where to seek help:

If you are confused as to what you should do and need advice and support, call the Student Health Center Nurses at one of the following extensions: #3800. #5055, #2722 OR call the Center for Counseling and Human Development at extension #4255.

Pennsylvania's Crime Victim's Act

Pennsylvania's Crime Victim's Act will assist victims of all crimes, including sexual assault. If you have been assaulted and you do not have health insurance, or you do not want medical costs [from the Emergency Room] billed to your insurance, you have the right to request that all medical costs be charged to the Crime Victim's Compensation Fund. All of your medical information will remain confidential. Remember, you must request this once you are in the Emergency Room.
