Prescription Medications
In order to effectively treat various illnesses, the Student Health Center providers may advise the use of prescriptive medication.
The Health Center doctor and nurse practitioners can write prescriptions or if the Health Center has the medication in stock, the student may purchase it from us. The doctor or nurse practitioner will give the medicine to the student along with instructions and the student will pay for it prior to leaving the Health Center. If a student has a prescription plan through insurance and the cost of the med will be cheaper if the student gets it at the drug store instead of purchasing it from the Health Center, then the doctor or nurse practitioner will write a prescription for it.
The Student Health Center maintains supplies of the most frequently ordered prescriptions which the student may purchase, at Health Center's cost, while at the Student Health Center. Other medications, not kept on stock at the Student Health Center, must be filled at local pharmacies. Some of the local pharmacies will deliver. A listing of pharmacies in the area along with their delivery policies can be obtained at the Student Health Center.
The cost of all prescriptive medications is the responsibility of the student. The Student Health Center does not bill health insurance prescription plans.
