The Department of Exercise Science at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2014 (AA 05-3-51). We seek an exercise physiologist whose teaching responsibilities may include participation in our undergraduate program, graduate program, and general education curriculum. In addition to teaching, the successful applicant will be expected to establish and maintain an active research program, seek external funding, advise undergraduate and graduate students in exercise science, and provide service to the department, college, and university.
A Ph.D., by August 15, 2014, in exercise physiology, exercise science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution is required. The preferred candidate should have experience teaching a variety of exercise science based courses, with the ability to teach in the following areas preferred: clinical exercise physiology, exercise prescription, and exercise prescription for special populations. Further, the preferred applicant should demonstrate an established record of scholarly activity, and an ability to provide advisement and leadership within the exercise science programs. ACSM or equivalent certification preferred. A demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations is preferred.
Finalists for the position must communicate well and successfully complete an interview process including a teaching demonstration and research seminar as judged by the department faculty. Recommendation for hiring is needed by the majority of the regular, full-time department faculty. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience; excellent benefits package.
