The Department of Communication Studies at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania invites applications for two tenure track assistant professor positions beginning Fall 2012. Applicants should have their Ph.D. in Communication Studies or a related field by the start date of the fall semester. ABD will be considered on a contingent contractual basis; however, the Ph.D. must be completed by the start date.
Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching, an active research agenda, and a commitment to service. We welcome diverse methodological approaches (i.e., quantitative, qualitative, critical, or performance) to teaching and research. We seek outstanding applicants whose research and teaching interests complement the current Communication Studies faculty.
An ability to teach courses in one or more of the following areas is desirable: Small Group Communication, Communication Training in Organizations, Organizational Communication Theory, Conflict Management & Resolution, and Communication for Business Professionals. Additional courses may include Communication Research Methods and Communication Theory.

Faculty are also encouraged to develop additional special topics courses in their area of specialization. Applicants will teach Public Speaking and/or Interpersonal Communication as part of their regular load. Pre-finalists for both positions must communicate well and successfully complete an interview process, a teaching demonstration, and a brief research presentation to be viewed by the department faculty. The department consists of 11 full time faculty members, six temporary faculty members, and approximately 350 majors.
