ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN COMMUNICATION STUDIES

Permanent, Full Time, Assistant Professor, Tenure Track Position

The Department of Communication Studies at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor beginning Fall 2010 (AA # 25-9-87). Applicants should have their Ph.D. in Communication Studies by the start date. ABD will be considered on a contingent contractual basis; however, the Ph.D. must be completed by the start date. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching, an active research agenda, and commitment to service.

We seek applicants who complement our current faculty interests. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population is preferred. In particular, we are looking for a faculty member with research and teaching interests in organizational communication; however, other areas will be considered. An ability to teach courses in one or more of the following areas is desirable: Organizational Communication Theory, Small Group Communication, Communication Training in Organizations, Corporate Communication, Communication Ethics, and Communication for Business Professionals. Multi-methodological approaches (i.e., quantitative, qualitative, critical, or performance) to teaching and research are encouraged. Applicants will also teach Public Speaking and/or Interpersonal Communication as part of their regular load.

Pre-finalists for this position must communicate well and successfully complete an interview process, a teaching demonstration, and a brief research presentation to be viewed by the department faculty. The department consists of 12 full time faculty members, two temporary faculty members, and approximately 250 majors.
