The Department of Music, Theatre & Dance at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a full time, tenure track position as Assistant Professor, beginning fall 2013. Core teaching is MUSIC EDUCATION: elementary and secondary methods, choral methods, choir directing, and field supervision of student teachers. Additional teaching assignments based on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will share our commitment to teaching and learning and be an active participant in student recruitment efforts on and off campus. The University is NCATE and PED accredited. Our program is NASM accredited and serves approximately 70 majors with emphases in Music Education, Music Liberal Arts, and Audio Recording. Instructional delivery may occur through traditional, on-line and alternative methods and can occur on the main campus or off-site educational locations. Voluntary summer contracts may be available.
Minimum Requirements: Earned doctorate in Music Education from an accredited institution required by August 24, 2013. A minimum of 3 years successful elementary and/or secondary school teaching experience is required. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations preferred. Demonstration of all minimum requirements must be evident in the application process. Finalists for the position must communicate well and successfully complete an interview process and teaching demonstrations. Recommendation for hiring is needed from a majority of the regular, full-time faculty within the department.
