Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania invites applications for two temporary, full-time positions beginning August 2012 (AA# 45-1-191 and 45-1-229). Responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours per semester: two upper level and two lower level courses, each semester. Courses related to position 1 (AA# 45-1-191) are Introduction to Criminal Justice, Police and Society, Criminal Justice Ethics and Criminal Investigation. Courses related to position 2 (AA# 45-1-229) are Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Procedure, Probation and Parole/Community Corrections. Other upper level courses will depend on the finalists’ areas of specialization. The program in Criminal Justice is a social science-oriented program, housed in the College of Liberal Arts.
Minimum qualification is a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field from an accredited institution, with a strong academic background. Juris Doctorate alone is not sufficient. Applied and/or professional experience in the field and college level teaching experience are strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations required. Finalists for this position must communicate well and successfully complete a phone interview. Recommendation for hiring is needed by the majority of the regular, full-time department faculty. Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check. Completion of these searches is contingent upon available funding.
