The Coordinator of Alcohol and Drug Intervention Programs is a member of the Department of Academic Support and Advisement Faculty. This is a temporary, two-year replacement pool that runs from April 15, 2013 through April 15, 2015. Temporary position openings that occur for Coordinator of Alcohol and Drug Intervention Programs (DAWN) during this time period will be selected from this pool. The incumbent is responsible for promoting low risk, healthy alternative choices regarding the use of alcohol and other drugs by Bloomsburg University students. Other responsibilities include conducting screening assessments, providing consultations for both self-referral and referrals through the judicial system, and supervising peer educators. The DAWN program is a component of BU’s Center for Counseling and Human Development.
Earned Master’s Degree from an accredited institution required with a strong academic background in substance abuse, counseling, psychology, or a related field; PA license (or eligible to be licensed in PA) as a Professional Counselor, Social Worker, or Psychologist; minimum one year of successful experience working with college students; demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Doctoral Degree from an accredited institution required with a strong academic background in substance abuse counseling, counseling, psychology, or a related field; demonstrated ability to work with a team; three or more years of successful experience working with addictions, counseling and supervising peer educators in a collegiate setting; PA Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC) or Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS).
Finalists for this position must communicate well and successfully complete an interview process. Recommendation for hiring is needed from a majority of the regular, full-time faculty within the department or area conducting the search.
Prior to a final offer of employment the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and credential verification, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and criminal background.
