Temporary Pool for Coordinator of Alcohol and Drug Intervention Programs

The Coordinator of Alcohol and Drug Intervention Programs is a member of the Department of Academic Support and Advisement Faculty. This is a temporary, two-year replacement pool that runs from May 15, 2015 through May 15, 2017.

Temporary faculty position openings that occur for Coordinator of Alcohol and Drug Intervention Programs during this time period will be filled from this pool. The Coordinator is responsible for promoting low risk, healthy alternative choices regarding the use of alcohol and other drugs by Bloomsburg University students. Other responsibilities include conducting screening assessments, providing substance abuse and psychological counseling and preventative psycho-education programs, providing consultations for both self-referral and referrals through the judicial system, and supervising peer educators. The DAWN program (Drug, Alcohol and Wellness Network) is a component of BU's Center for Counseling and Human Development.

Required Qualifications:

Earned Master's Degree from an accredited institution (addictions, counseling, psychology or a closely-related field) with a strong background in substance abuse, counseling or psychology, PA license (or proof of current eligibility to sit) as a Professional Counselor, Social Worker, or Psychologist; minimum one year of successful experience working with addictions, counseling college students, supervising peer educators in a college setting, demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral Degree from an accredited institution (addictions, counseling, psychology or a closely-related field) with a strong background in substance abuse counseling, counseling or psychology and preventative psycho-education, demonstrated ability to work with a team, three or more years of successful experience working with addictions, counseling and supervising peer educators in a collegiate setting; Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) and Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or proof of current eligibility to apply for a CAADC and/or a CPS.

Finalist(s) for this position must communicate well and successfully complete an interview process as judged by the department faculty.  A teaching demonstration may be required as part of the interview process.  Recommendation for hiring is needed from a majority of the regular, full-time faculty within the department conducting the search.

Prior to a final offer of employment the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification,  Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and criminal background check. Hiring is contingent upon available funding.
