Walking Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays

We will take a walk at lunch every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The walks will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the front entrance to Waller and will simply be a walk around campus led by Wellness Committee members and 10,000 Steps participants. These walks are informal and on a come as you can basis.

Not convinced that a lunchtime walk will help? According to an article in the July/August 2009 issue of Health magazine, it's possible to lose a significant amount of weight by adding a lunchtime walk. One 40-year-old administrative assistant lost 53 pounds by adding a lunchtime walk. She describes her "no-diet" solution this way:

"I started walking during my lunch hour. By exercising during my workday, I didn't give myself the chance to go home, get comfortable, and then blow off the gym. All I had to do was change my clothes, grab my iPod and go! Another bonus: The last thing I wanted after walking was a fatty lunch, so I started grabbing Lean Pockets instead. After 10 months of pounding the pavement, I dropped 53 pounds. I vary my route now to keep things interesting. But I still walk by myself, every day, rain or shine."
