Project IMPRESS - Practical Experience Requirements

Project IMPRESS
Students are required to gain therapeutic experiences with diverse populations (e.g., autism, swallowing, language, speech, traumatic brain injury) in the school setting. Each semester students will engage in a 12 hour practical experience with a designated population or disorder.

As a result, students may require release time from their work assignments in order to complete the required practical experiences. The students are expected to provide 12 hours of consistent intervention to a child during a semester.

This may require the student to request an hour of leave a week for 12 weeks each semester. The education agency must verify that they employ sufficient personnel who hold the ASHA CCCs with 5 years of experience in the school setting to serve as supervisors for the practical experiences.
