Local student assists in research study

BLOOMSBURG— A Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania nursing major recently assisted in a research study at a Montour County eldercare facility.
Karen Kratz, Sinking Spring, a senior who is majoring in nursing, served as a research assistant to the program’s director for the study “Preserving Cognition and Preventing Excess Disability through Cognitive Remediation Programming.”
The program, held at Maria Joseph Manor, Danville, was designed to evaluate how certain activities affected the memory and mental ability of older people.
Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students and offers 65 bachelor’s, 17 master’s and one doctoral degree.
