BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania will present a series of programs, “Father and Son: Poet and Composer,” on Tuesday, March 27, and Wednesday, March 28. The events, part of the Provost's Lecture Series, are free and open to the public.

The elder Samuel Hazo, an author of poetry, fiction, essays and plays, will give a poetry reading Tuesday from 8 to 10 p.m. in Hartline Science Center, room 83. Hazo founded the International Poetry Forum in Pittsburgh in 1966 and was chosen the first and only Pennsylvania poet laureate in 1993.

The father and his son, Samuel, will give a joint workshop, “State of the Arts in PA,” Wednesday from 3 to 4 p.m. in Hartline Science Center, room 83. The Hazos will give a presentation and concert Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. Four of Samuel Hazo’s poems have been set to music by his son, and will be performed by the BU Concert Band. The Hazos undertook this project several years ago and this will be the first time the works are performed for an audience.
