For immediate release: Jan. 23, 2007

BLOOMSBURG — A collection of sculpture focused on memory and time is on exhibit at the Haas Gallery of Art at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Artist Angie Y. To’s collection, “They Fall Asleep and Dream,” will be on display through Friday, Feb. 16. A closing reception will be held on Friday, Feb. 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with an artist lecture at noon. All are open to the public free of charge.

The artist received her diploma of fine art in sculpture from Alberta College of Art and Design, Canada, and her master's of fine arts in sculpture from Ohio State University. She is an assistant professor of art in the Foundations Program at Alfred University in New York. To’s solo exhibits have been displayed through the Ohio State Art League and the Truck Gallery in Calgary. She has contributed art to exhibits throughout the northeast and Canada.

To has worked in the form of installation for the past eight years. She uses multiple objects, images and texts in her exhibits and installations. She says her art “inhabits that terrain which lies between objective, factual information and the emotional language of memory and sensory association.”
The Haas Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weeks and Saturdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Professional Studies, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
