BU Chamber Orchestra to give fall concert

BLOOMSBURG — Members of the Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra will give a fall concert on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 123 N. Market St., Bloomsburg. The show is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D, opus 36 and Haydn’s Concerto for Violin in C major, featuring violin soloist Jennifer Updegrove, who is in her ninth season as concertmaster for the BU Community Orchestra. She holds a bachelor of music degree in violin performance and is currently principal second violin for the Schuylkill Symphony Orchestra.

Mark Jelinek, professor of music at BU, observes his 15th year as conductor of the Bloomsburg University Chamber Orchestra. Jelinek earned his doctor of musical arts degree from Arizona State University and has performed in cellos sections of orchestras in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California,and Pennsylvania.
