BU’s Magee Center celebrates with open house

For immediate release: March 26, 2008

BLOOMSBURG — The Magee Center, home of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Division of Corporate and Continuing Education, has reopened more than 18 months after sustaining major damage during the June 2006 flood. To celebrate, the Magee Center, 700 W. Main St., Bloomsburg, will be the site of a community open house Wednesday, April 9, from 2 to 6 p.m.

During the free event, visitors may tour the facility which has been completely remodeled and once again houses minicourses and professional education opportunities. Visitors will be able to meet instructors, watch demonstrations and speak with representatives of the CDL trucking program. Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be awarded.

BU’s Division of Corporate and Continuing Education provides noncredit minicourses in areas ranging from financial planning, photo editing and Internet safety to ballroom dancing, martial arts and cake decorating. Minicourses for children, some as young as 3 years old, include dancing, gymnastics, karate and academic areas such as math, reading, art and SAT preparation. The division also offers CDL truck driver preparation courses, workforce training, business and professional training, computer training and online courses.

A complete list of spring courses offered through the division of corporate and continuing education is available at www.bloomu.edu/ce. For details on courses or information about the April 9 open house, call (570) 389-4420.

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students, offering comprehensive programs of study in the colleges of Professional Studies, Business, Liberal Arts and Science and Technology.
