Alumni Weekend at BU set for April 11 and 12

BLOOMSBURG — Campus tours, reunions and special interest sessions are just a few of the activities to be offered during Alumni Weekend at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. The event, “Changing Times: BU in the 21st Century,” will be held Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12. Alumni can register at www.bloomualumni.com or by calling (800) 526-0254; alumni may also register at the Fenstemaker Alumni House during Alumni Weekend.
Husky Ambassadors will lead shuttle and walking tours of campus, including the newly completed academic quad, on April 12, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Special interest sessions exploring a variety of current topics and hobbies will be offered by faculty, staff, current students and alumni on April 12 from 11 a.m. to noon and 3 to 4 p.m. While walk-ins are welcome, reservations are recommended for the sessions.
An alumni awards luncheon and reception with BU President David Soltz will be held on April 12 from noon to 2 p.m. in Kehr Union, multipurpose rooms A and B. The cost of the luncheon is $20 per person. A reception with current and retired BU faculty members is set for April 12 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Fenstemaker Alumni House; the cost is $5 per person. Reservations are required for both events. Alumni may also purchase half-price tickets to the Celebrity Artist Series musical “Evita” on Sunday, April 13, at 8 p.m., in Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. Regular price tickets are $25.
Other special events include a reunion for those who graduated from Bloomsburg State Normal School in the 1930s and ’40s on April 11 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Fenstemaker Alumni House; a Navy V-12 reunion on April 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and a children’s carnival on April 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. on the alumni house lawn. Alumni in the Classroom, a week-long event that encourages alumni to share their career experiences with current BU students, will be held from Monday to Friday, April 7 to 11.
