BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Democracy Matters will have a teach-in Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. in Kehr Union, multipurpose room B. This event is free and open to the public.

Democracy Matters is a non-partisan organization geared to getting students politically aware and involved on campus.
“The Teach-In is a program designed to educate students about issues they care about and how they are impacted by the influence of campaign donations,” said Democracy Matters’ coordinator Emily Kinkead. The topics that will be covered are the economy, women’s rights, local issues, the environment, minority rights, war and health care.

“The goal of this event is to get students who have been politically engaged during this election cycle to stay engaged after the election by showing them that there are still more things for young people to do in politics,” Kinkead said.

“Democracy Matters stresses that politics is a year-round thing that affects us daily and we must be involved consistently, not just every four years.”
