University Community Orchestra to perform with violinist Lisa Liu

BLOOMSBURG — The Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania Community Orchestra will perform Sunday, Nov. 9, at 2:30 p.m. at Central Columbia High School, 4777 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg. The show is free and open to the public.
The concert will feature performances of Tchaikovsky's The Swan Lake Suite, opus 20a, and Brahms' Concerto for violin in D, opus 77, with Lisa Liu as solo violinist.

Liu, a graduate of Juilliard with bachelor's and master's degrees in violin performance, has pursued a diverse range of musical projects. She has played Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, Beacon Theatre, Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and The Whitney Museum. She has shared the stage or recorded with artists including Elton John, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Aerosmith, Wyclef Jean, Wynonna, Michael McDonald, Enya, Celine Dion and Dangerous LLC.

Liu has also appeared on "The View," "Good Morning America," "The Today Show," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "CBS's Macy's Thanksgiving Parade Special," "NBC's Rockefeller Christmas Special," “AOL Live Studio Sessions" and "Live with Regis and Kelly."

Mark Jelinek, professor of music at BU, is observing his 23rd year at Bloomsburg University. He earned his doctor of musical arts degree from Arizona State University and has performed in cello sections of orchestras in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California and Pennsylvania.
