For immediate release: March 2, 2010

BLOOMSBURG — A silent auction of items ranging from gift certificates for local businesses to vacation rentals will be featured during “It’s Time” on Tuesday, March 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Fenstemaker Alumni House. Tickets are $35 each and two for $60 for the event to benefit BU’s LGBTA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Allies) Resource Center.

Other items to be auctioned will include artwork, jewelry and imported wine, said Gretchen Osterman, co-chair of the event planning committee. In addition, hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served and awards will be presented.

“Last year, the auction brought in around $2,000 to support the resource center’s ongoing activities,” Osterman said. “Money raised this year will go toward supporting the growth and stabilization of the LGBTA Resource Center.”

The provost and social equity office established the LGBTA Resource Center four years ago to help make BU a safe, welcoming place for all students, faculty and staff through education, programming, advocacy and public policy.

For more information on the March 23 event or to place early bids on large items, see Web site. For reservations, e-mail lgbt@bloomu.edu or send checks payable to LGBTA Educational Fund to LGBTA Resource Center, 266 Warren Student Services Center, 400 E. Second St., Bloomsburg. The reservation deadline is March 16.
