Registration opens for summer adventure

BLOOMSBURG — Registration is open for a series of hands-on adventure and education-based summer camps at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s upper campus. Led by BU’s Quest program, youth camps will run Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A weekend camp for teens and two weekend camps for adults also are offered. The following camp sessions are scheduled:
Adventure Camps: Designed for adventurous, active children, week-long camps are offered for youths ages 9 to 12, 12 to 14 and 14 to17. Activities focus on a 50-foot climbing tower, 200-foot zip lines, rafting, kayaking, scavenger hunt, teambuilding and a field day. The 14- to17-year-olds will take part in the same activities with the addition of one overnight camping trip and an outdoor rock climb. Sessions for each age group are listed on Quest's Web site.
Teen Weekend Summer Camp: Offered during the weekend of Aug. 14 and15, the group will leave BU’s campus Saturday morning for a day of rafting and kayaking on the Lehigh River. After an overnight campout, participants will spend Sunday on the campus high ropes course.
Adult Summer Camp Weekends: Offered May 29 and 30 and July 17 and 18, this camp is for participants ages 18 and older. The May weekend will offer backpacking and camping on the Pinchot Trail in northeast Pennsylvania on Saturday and hiking and rock climbing on Sunday. In July, the camping weekend will feature Saturday rafting and kayaking on the Lehigh River and camping at Hickory Run State Park and beginning rock climbing and instruction on Sunday. All equipment, instruction and transportation will be provided.
