BLOOMSBURG — Music, dance, food and fashion are planned for Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s International Festival on Thursday, Oct. 7, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Scranton Commons Amphitheater and Kehr Union. All events are free and open to the public.

Hosted by the SOLVE volunteer office, the International Festival encourages the campus community to “join together to celebrate the world,” said Tim Pelton, BU’s civic engagement coordinator.

Events include a Latin cooking demonstration at 11 a.m.; performance by the BU Jazz Ensemble and fashion show at 2 p.m.; and performance by the BU Percussion Ensemble at 3:30 p.m. Also planned are a belly dancing workshop at 2:45 p.m., European dance exhibition and workshop at 7 p.m. and panel discussions on study abroad opportunities and the experiences of international students at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Free foreign films will be shown during the three days leading up to the event. They are: “Tell No One,” Monday, Oct. 4, 7:30 p.m., Hartline Science Center, room G40, France; “District 9,” Tuesday, 7:30 p.m., McCormick Human Services Center, room 2303, South Africa; and “The Devil’s Backbone,” Wednesday, 7:30 p.m., Hartline, room G40, Spain.
