Percussionist conducts workshop at BU

For immediate release: Oct. 22, 2010

BLOOMSBURG — Chinese-Canadian marimba player Pius Cheung will demonstrate his technique and perform Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. The workshop is free and open to the public.

Cheung has toured extensively as a concerto and recital soloist. His recent performances include: Usedomer Music Festival in Germany, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Eighth International Marimba Festival in Mexico and Percussive Arts Society International Convention, as well as appearances at the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. Cheung has produced two CDs, one of Bach’s Goldberg Variations and the other comprised of his own compositions, and presented master classes at institutions in Europe and the U.S.
