Big Band Dance is back for a second time

BLOOMSBURG — Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Visual and Performing Arts will host the second annual Big Band Dance Wednesday, March 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Moose Exchange, downtown Bloomsburg.

The event will begin with a demonstration of dance styles, such as the samba, cha-cha and tango. All dance steps are designed for beginners. Afterward, Bloomsburg University’s Jazz Ensemble will perform pieces for dancing, directed by Stephen Clickard, chair of music, theatre and dance.

The dance is open free of charge to dancers, both individuals and couples, and to those who prefer to watch, said Julie Petry, assistant professor of theatre and dance.

The Big Band Dance is supported by the College of Liberal Arts. For additional information, contact Petry, jpetry@bloomu.edu.
