Nutrition Program

BLOOMSBURG — Two Bloomsburg University faculty are introducing BU’s new Center for Healthy Aging with the program, “Cooking for Those with Diabetes,” at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, in the Benton Senior Center. The free program by Debra Sanders and Lori Metzger, assistant professors of nursing, is presented in conjunction with the Area Agency on Aging.

BU’s new Center for Healthy Aging serves area residents over age 65 and is a combined effort of faculty and students in nursing, sociology, psychology and audiology/speech pathology, according to Sanders.

“Pennsylvania is third in the country in the number of aging citizens,” Sanders said. “The center’s mission is to promote optimal healthy aging of older adults through service, education and research.”

Programs presented earlier this month focused on hearing loss and mental cognition. To register free of charge for the July 29 program, call Jinny Keifer, 570-925-6533, by 11 a.m. on July 28.
