BLOOMSBURG—Two emergency responders from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania recently completed a weapons of mass destruction training course at the Center for Domestic Preparedness, Anniston, Ala.

Robert Klinger, director of university safety and police, and Belinda DeLeon, BU police officer, attended training designed to help emergency personnel prevent and respond to acts of terrorism. Sessions covered chemical, ordnance, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons of mass destruction.

The Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) is operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Grants and Training and is the only federally chartered weapons of mass destruction training facility in the country. 

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students and offers 65 bachelor’s, 18 master’s and one doctoral degree.
