Bloomsburg University moves undergraduate commencement to Redman Stadium

BLOOMSBURG—More than 1,050 students will graduate during Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania’s first undergraduate commencement ceremonies at Robert B. Redman Stadium Saturday, May 13. 

 

Two BU faculty members will deliver the commencement addresses. Dale A. Bertelsen, professor of communication studies and theatre arts, will speak at the 10 a.m. ceremony for graduates in the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Science and Technology, and Timothy Knoster, assistant professor of exceptionality programs, will deliver the address at the 3 p.m. commencement for students from the College of Professional Studies and the College of Business.

 

Also during the undergraduate ceremonies, the top honor graduates from each college will be recognized. They are: College of Business – Courtney Leigh Shirley of Bloomsburg, accounting; College of Liberal Arts – Judith M. Bailer of Folcroft, exercise science; and Chase Steven Winters of Muncy, criminal justice and political science; College of Professional Studies: Mary R. Bauman of Plains, speech pathology and audiology; Annemarie Bunch of Coudersport, special education and elementary education; and Angelo Dominic Picerno of Freeburg, elementary education mathematics; and College of Science and Technology: Timothy J. Koziol of Shamokin, computer science and mathematics.

 

Motorists are advised to try to avoid Lightstreet Road and the area around Country Club Drive due to anticipated traffic congestion on May 13.

 

Bloomsburg's graduate commencement will be held Friday, May 12, at 6 p.m. in Haas Center for the Arts. At that ceremony, 149 master’s and doctoral degree students will receive their degrees.

 

Bloomsburg University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The university serves approximately 8,000 students and offers 65 bachelor’s, 18 master’s and one doctoral degree.
