Deadlines to Apply for Financial Aid


For 2016-2017 Academic Year (Summer 2016, Fall 2016, Spring 2017)

Free Application for Federal Student Aid 2016-2017:  All students who wish to receive any type of federal or state aid (grants, scholarships, loans, employment) - must submit this application.  Pennsylvania residents must file by May 1, 2016 to be considered for the PHEAA State Grant.   You may apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Bloomsburg University Scholarships:  Upperclassmen who wish to apply for scholarships must submit the appropriate applications by February 6, 2015 at 4:30 p.m.  Scholarships for incoming students will be determined by the Office of Admissions. 

Federal Pell Grant:   The completed FAFSA information must be received from the federal processor by the Office of Financial Aid by the last day of the semester.  

Federal SEOG Grant:  No separate application is required.  Eligible students who have submitted a FAFSA will be considered for this grant.  

PHEAA State Grant:  Pennsylvania residents must file the FAFSA by May 1, 2016 to be considered for this grant.  Some students also will be required to complete the PHEAA Grant Status Notice, which will be mailed to the student by PHEAA.  

Federal Perkins Loan:  No separate application is required.  Eligible students who have submitted a FAFSA will be considered for this loan. 

Federal Direct Student Loan:  Loan applications may be submitted beginning March 15, 2016.  All loans must be certified by the Financial Aid Office by the last day of the loan term. 

Federal Direct PLUS/Grad PLUS Loan:  Please use the following information below as to when you should apply for the loan.  All loans must be certified by the Financial Aid Office by the last day of the loan term.  

  • Loan Term Beginning Summer 2016 - Apply on or after March 15, 2016
  • Loan Term Beginning Fall 2016 - Apply on or after March 15, 2016
  • Loan Term Beginning Spring 2017 - Apply on or after November 1, 2016

Private Educational Alternative Loan:  Students and parents wishing to receive this type of loan are encouraged to start applying after March 15, 2016.  Prior to applying for this type of loan, you should first explore all other forms of financial aid.  Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information.  Deadlines vary by lender. 

Federal Work-Study Program (FWSP) and Institutional State Student Employment:  Students are required to complete a new application each year.
