The Entrepreneurship and Small Business Certificate provides an educational opportunity for non-degree seeking members of the local and regional business communities, including women and others who may be underrepresented. This program provides learners with critical knowledge and skills recognized as being essential towards enhancing the performance and profitability of small business organizations. The program helps them develop entrepreneurial thinking and actions and sharpens their small business management skills in various functions such as financing, operations, accounting, human resources, marketing, and risk management.

The Entrepreneurship and Small Business Certificate also enables learners to apply for jobs in their major field requiring supervisory and management skills. For non-business majors, having a background in entrepreneurship and small business will make them more attractive to employers who tend to value organizational and entrepreneurial competencies in their employees. Those who expect to own and manage family businesses in areas such as retail, recreation, food services, food processing and small manufacturing, can tremendously benefit from this program.
