Ranking among BU's most popular campus spots, the Student Recreation Center averages about 1,500 users per day. Known as "The Rec," the 78,000 square-foot facility.
Full membership is included with the student activity fee.
It currently offers five basketball courts (also used for volleyball and indoor tennis), a 1/8 mile jogging track, four racquetball courts, aerobics room, a climbing room, 3,000 square-foot full-circuit weight training and free-weight room, a huge fitness room offering a wide range of cardio machines and complete circuit of strength training equipment, plus an aerobics studio. Locker rooms and athletic trainers are available for users, and a variety of aerobics classes are offered throughout the year.
The facility opens at 6 a.m. and is busiest from early afternoon until it late night closing.
Eighteen outdoor tennis courts, many of them lighted for night play, are available for recreational use, as are a number of upper campus athletic fields. The university pool in Nelson Field House, is available for open swimming on a regular basis throughout the fall and spring semesters.
In addition to an intramural program that attracts about 1,800 participants each semester and an NCAA intercollegiate athletic program in which 500 students participate in 18 sports, hundreds of BU students are active in club sports. These include:
Archery Club - To strengthen members' archery skills and to provide a competitive, yet rewarding setting outside of the classroom.
Bicycle Club - All ability groups welcome. Racing, touring, road, and mountain. Rides are organized in both spring and fall.
Billiards Club - Encourages the development of social, cultural, recreational, and governance programs. Also broadens student involvement, self-growth, and spirit of campus life; teaches billiards to those who want to learn different aspects of the game.
Cheerleading Squad - Gives spirit, support, and pep to the athletes and spectators.
Chess Club - Allows members an opportunity to play chess, receive instruction, and engage in USCF rated tournaments.
Dance Ensemble - Studies the art form of dance; explores the disciplines of ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, Irish, hip hop, and is open to other styles; creates new and interesting choreography; and further develops and enhances skills in dance.
Equestrian Club - Seeks to create a social interaction among students who share a common interest in horseback riding and competition on the Eastern collegiate equestrian circuit.
Fencing Club - Plans and conducts various fencing activities, and promotes the interest of fencing throughout the Bloomsburg area.
Quest is an outdoor adventure and recreation program at Bloomsburg University, serving students and the general public. Quest offers exciting, outdoor and educational courses, mostly at the beginner and intermediate level, in Pennsylvania, the United States, Africa, South and Central America and Europe.
Quest courses include kayaking, rafting, canoeing, backpacking, rock and ice climbing, trekking, backpacking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, high ropes, teambuilding, skills training, and more.
No experience is necessary for Quest trips and most equipment is included. You only need to be willing to try new things and meet new people.

Frontiers/Quest - Is dedicated to maintaining the Quest philosophy. This group provides an environment for individuals to collect, share, and exchange ideas related to outdoor leadership and experiential education. Frontiers provides an avenue for anyone interested in developing the outdoor leadership skills that lead to safe and educational enjoyment for students who share a common interest in self enrichment through the outdoors.
Golf Club -Seeks to stimulate the interest in the sport of golf on the campus of Bloomsburg University.
Grappling Club - Practices the generic art of Grappling, which encompasses, but is not limited to: Ju-jitsu, Brazillian Ju-juitsu, Judo, Wrestling, Sambo and Submission work. Club emphasizes technique, timing and position in performing all moves.
Intercollegiate Bowling Club - Promotes interest in the sport of bowling, as a club, on the campus of B.U.
Judo Club - Has as its purpose to practice judo.
Lacrosse Club, Men's - Stimulates the interest of the sport of lacrosse on campus and gives students with or without previous experience a chance to play lacrosse. BU Men's Lacrosse is a member of the National Collegiate Lacrosse League.
Rock Climbing Team - The purpose of this team will be to provide the growing number of interested students the chance to compete and excel in a main stream sport. The team will foster a community in which members will be able to improve their climbing skills, which will be done through organized trips to many different locations that will drive students to a higher level of climbing.
Roller Hockey Club - Provides the opportunity for students to participate in roller hockey and fosters the popularity and awareness of the sport.
Rugby Club, Men's - Stimulates interest in the sport of rugby at Bloomsburg University and competes with other colleges and university club teams
Rugby Club, Women's - Seeks to stimulate the interest in the sport of rugby at BU and promote sportsmanship and good conduct while competing. Competes with other colleges and university club teams.
Scuba Diving Club - Promotes the sport of scuba diving at Bloomsburg University.
Ski Club - Provides opportunities to become a better skier by joining the group at nearby Pocono resorts. We also go on weekend and college vacation trips to Vermont or western ski areas.
Snowboard Club - Provides students who share a common interest in snowboarding and its unique culture, the opportunity to gather for discussion, view snowboarding films and plan trips.
Sport Club Federation - The overall governing body for club sports and is responsible for developing and implementing policies for effective operations for all recognized active sports clubs.
Ultimate Frisbee Club - Provides an opportunity for competitive ultimate, encourages excellence in ultimate through sportsmanship and active participation that will benefit the competitor later in life and develops a championship ultimate team.
Volleyball Club, Men's - Develops individual and team volleyball skills through regular play on a men's and a women's team of competitive quality. These teams will also compete inter-collegiately..
Volleyball Club, Women's - Compete as a strong, well-trained team of volleyball players at an experienced level of play. Strive to exhibit teamwork, perseverance, and dedication to each other and to the university.
Water Polo Club - Stimulates interest in the sport of water polo at Bloomsburg University and promotes sportsmanship and good conduct while competing against other clubs and/or universities.
Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Club - Educate and promote a healthy outlet for students of all physical ability through proper weight training. As a club, find fellowship through a common interest.
