Prior version of this policy

The undergraduate curricula are administered by the Provost's office and the four colleges; the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Science and Technology, the College of Professional Studies, and the College of Business. The requirements for the curricula of each college can be obtained from the dean of the particular college.

When an undergraduate degree student makes a tentative choice of a major, he/she selects preliminary or prerequisite courses with the advice of the major department.

The university is not obligated to admit a student to a major which is selective or restrictive. Students in majors which have retention standards beyond those of the University (PRP 3446 - Undergraduate Academic Retention Standards) must meet those standards to remain in the major.

Students who have been readmitted to the university after academic dismissal must file a request with the Academic Advising Office to enter a major. In these cases, permission to enter the major requires approval of the chair of the department (or his/her designate) in which the major is offered.
