Alumni and Professional Engagement builds critical relationships with alumni and organizations to strengthen connections with the university in support of professional development and career experiences for BU students.

Professional U is a four-year plan integrating the academic experience with professional experience to prepare students for career success. There are a variety of opportunities for students to grow professionally while pursuing a degree, such as learning to prepare a resume or how to build a professional network. Students obtain career-related experience by job shadowing, completing an academic internship, studying abroad or through undergraduate research.

Alumni volunteers give back to their alma mater by serving as classroom speakers or panelists, hosting students for job shadowing or academic internship experiences or by facilitating other opportunities for students at their places of employment. Alumni are also a resource for students to build professional connections. Alumni donors financially support the Professional U initiative through Capstone Scholarships and donations for college-based institutes. A number of alumni serve on college advisory boards.

Organizations interested in recruiting Bloomsburg students for internships or full or part-time positions participate in on-campus job fairs or information sessions or conduct one-on-one interviews with students on campus.
