Located at 700 West Main Street, 1.5 miles west of the Bloomsburg University main campus, the building also serves as the headquarters of the university's Division of Continuing and Distance Education, which is responsible for the management of the Center's meeting space and support services.
Meeting Facilities - The Magee Center facilities include a large auditorium for general sessions, three conference rooms, an art studio, and an outdoor courtyard area. The auditorium, with variable seating for up to 75 guests, can be set up in a number of configurations. Each conference room features large seminar tables for 10-25 guests. Seating capacities can be expanded. The art studio is a special purpose facility designed for arts and crafts instruction. A tour of these facilities is advised prior to use.
E.H. Nelson Field House, built in 1972 on the upper campus, serves as the university's main sports arena and seats 2,600 spectators. It houses an indoor track, a six-lane swimming pool with adjacent seating for 500 spectators, faculty offices, handball courts, classrooms, equipment rooms, a Nautilus room and special facilities for physical training and therapy. The building is used for health and physical education classes, varsity athletic events, recreational activities and other campus activities which draw large audiences. Free shuttle bus transportation is provided regularly between the field house and the lower campus.
Elna H. Nelson, was baseball coach and director of health education at Bloomsburg from 1924 to 1945. Among those he coached was Danny Litwhiler, who went on to Major League Baseball fame with the Philadelphia Phillies and other teams.
Monty's, a satellite cafeteria of university dining services serves students on the upper campus and is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays and from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends during university semesters. Monty's specializes in upscale dining, rotisserie chicken and southwestern cuisine. Patrons can choose from a variety of grilled and deli items. Meal plans can be used during the hours of operation and "Cash equivalency" and Bonus points are accepted in this facility. Monty's is open to the public.
Mt. Olympus Apartments house 246 juniors and seniors in ten buildings with a total of 42 apartments. It is the newest housing on campus, completed in Fall, 2001. Each fully-furnished apartment houses six students in single bedrooms, includes cable tv, network computer and telephone hookups, is air conditioned and comes with dedicated parking. All are equipped with smoke detector and sprinklers. Gas heat is included in rent, but students pay for electic. Apartment occupants must be of the same gender. All buildings are non-smoking, with laundry facilities in every third building.
Montgomery Place Apartments provides living accommodations for 380 sophomores, juniors and seniors. Constructed in 1989, the two-bedroom apartments are clustered in six buildings. Occupants of the individual apartments must be of the same gender. There are several floor-plan configurations. All are non-smoking, include a laundry in the building, are fully furnished and carpeted and have dedicated parking. The units are wired for cable TV, phones and network computer connections, have all basic appliances, and have smoke detectors and sprinklers.
Facilities Maintenance maintains service and storage facilities on upper campus that are not open to the general public.
