Because so many of our students go on the graduate school we have designed a program through which students can get valuable teaching assistant experience, where many graduate students fund their graduate work through employment as a TAs.
At Bloomsburg our Psychology Department TAs work with the faculty who teach General Psychology. Our T.A.s receive 3 credit hours through the course, Psych-341 Theory and Practice of Academic Psychology. Students must fill out an application and then be selected to take this course. Applications are due in the semester prior to enrollment in the course.
While in this course TAs meet with the General Psychology faculty each week to discuss topics, lesson plans, activities, and examinations. Under the supervision of the General Psychology faculty each TA. facilitates a small group discussion during which General Psychology students discuss the current lecture material. See Psych-341 Theory and Practice of Academic Psychology for more information.
