Matt Haney is entering his 10th season as head coach of the Huskies' baseball program after two years as an assistant. In nine seasons, Haney has become the winningest baseball coach in school history with 212 career wins.

In PSAC play, the Huskies boast a PSAC record of 93-74 and three PSAC championship berths during Haney's tenure.

Haney led Bloomsburg to six consecutive 20-win seasons. The Huskies have posted at least 10 conference victories in eight of his nine seasons at the helm.

He led Bloomsburg to its most successful season in school history in 1995, as the Huskies finished with a record of 37-21, culminating with the team's first ever trip to the NCAA Division II Championships. In addition, the Huskies finished second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division race with a record of 14-6.

After placing second in the conference tournament, the Huskies won the NCAA Division II North Atlantic Regional to advance to the NCAA Division II Championships, finishing fifth in the nation.

For his efforts, Haney was named both the PSAC and North Atlantic Region Coach of the Year in 1995.

The Huskies also set a school record for wins in a season with 37 in 1995.

Bloomsburg's playing style under Haney can be best described as aggressive and speed-oriented with a strong emphasis on pitching and defense. In 1999, the pitching staff compiled its lowest ERA (3.20) during Haney's years as head coach, ranking sixth in the nation.

A 1990 Bloomsburg graduate, Haney has been involved with baseball at all levels and has served at Benton High School with its basketball and soccer programs.

In addition to his coaching experience, Haney also played football professionally, spending two seasons with the Pottstown Firebirds, a minor league team affiliated with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Haney has served the university outside of his baseball duties, assisting with the women's basketball program for four years.

He is a past member of the NCAA Division II North Atlantic Regional Advisory Committee as well as the PSAC Baseball Games Committee.
