Brian Sperling Named PSAC Player of the Week
BLOOMSBURG- Junior designated hitter Brian Sperling (Levittown/Neshaminy) was named the PSAC East Baseball Player of the Week after batting .667 in a 3-1 week for Bloomsburg. He was 8-for-12 with two doubles, two homeruns, and 11 RBI. He had an on-base percentage of .750 for the week.
In game one of the doubleheader against West Chester, a 10-7 win, Sperling was 3-for-4 with four RBI. He had two doubles in the game and scored two runs.
In the nightcap, Sperling started the Huskies scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run homer, and then followed up in the second inning with a grand slam to give Bloomsburg a 6-0 lead. He completed the day with an RBI single in the third inning. For the game, he was 3-for-3 with seven RBI.
Sperling was 1-for-3 in the first game of the doubleheader against Kutztown. The Huskies won that game in extra innings, 2-1. Sperling had a sacrifice bunt in the ninth inning, moving what proved to be the winning run into scoring position.
In game two, Sperling went 1-for-2. He also reached twice on walks.
For the season, Sperling is second on the team in batting with a .404 average. He has had 13 doubles, three homeruns, and 33 RBI.
