Bloomsburg Loses to Lock Haven Friday Night

NEWPORT NEWS, VA —The Bloomsburg University baseball team suffered its first loss of the season, 4-2, in eight innings to Lock Haven at the Apprentice School Tournament. Saturday's game with Kutztown was rained out and will be played Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

The Huskies scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Brian Zorger has a run-scoring double with Brian Martin adding a run-scoring single for the Huskies.

Lock Haven tied the game in the top of the seventh to send the game into extra-innings. In the top of the eighth the Bald Eagles put two runs on the board to grab the lead, then put the Huskies down in order in the bottom of the eighth for the win.

Mike Vavra took the loss in relief of Matt Wiltrout who went the first 6 1/3 innings. The Bloomsburg offense was led by Martin who was 2-4 with an RBI, while Zorger was 1-4, with an RBI and a run scored.

Bloomsburg is now 2-1 for the year.
